Tacony Reveal – Historic Home Renovation

Remember that time we bought a house on Facebook Marketplace? This old former duplex’s renovation back into a single-family home is finally finished. I’m not sure which part of the house is my favorite, the staircase, fireplace, or the kitchen.

I fell in love with the staircase the first time I saw it. It was transformed with little (a lot) of scrubbing, keeping its original finish.

I found an antique tiger oak fireplace surround on Facebook Marketplace and knew it would fit perfectly with the house. Now that it’s done, I almost can’t even tell it wasn’t original to the house.

We were able to refinish and save the hardwood floors throughout the house. We stained them in a dark tone and they turned out beautifully.

My favorite part, though, has to be the kitchen……

I designed this kitchen with the house’s historical elements in mind, trying to give it an old-world feel. Reed built the range hood himself, we installed antique reclaimed pendant lights, and we had the oak island custom-built for the space by a local woodworker.

This renovation took longer than we expected but we couldn’t be happier with how the home turned out.
